Free Demonstration: GIS Interface for Agricultural BMP Assessment

Thursday, May 28

Thursday, May 28 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm EDT

You are invited to a free online workshop that will demonstrate an open source GIS interface for agricultural Best Practices Management (BMP) assessment using the Gully Creek watershed (Lake Huron Basin) as a case study. The BMP set includes conservation tillage, nutrient management, cover crop and water and sediment control basin.

To attend this workshop, simply log in

Before logging into the workshop, please download two zip files: (including readme.txt, presentation, user manual, and interface demonstration documents) (including interface files in Java and customized SWAT executable file).

Unzip both files to your local directory.

The GIS interface has been developed based on Windows 64-bit operating system and the Java platform.
On Windows 32-bit computers, the interface can run most of the functions, but the BMP policy scenario based on an optimization model can NOT be run.

The interface requires Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 8.0 or higher to launch.
Before logging into the workshop, please download and install "jre-8u45-windows-x64.exe" (Windows 64-bit) from this link.

This is one of the first efforts in Canada to make complex BMP assessment modelling accessible to agricultural conservation practitioners. Learn more about this CWN-funded project.
